Volunteer Support
Our TLC Home Hospice Volunteer Team is deeply committed to providing emotional support to Hospice Patients and their families. Our Volunteers are compassionate and caring as they dedicate their time to help people through what can be one of life’s most difficult processes. Volunteers often make a big difference in the life of a Hospice family. They are available to serve in many ways, but are often most valued as a caring listener. Following the death of a Patient, Volunteers continue in their role of offering support as family members begin coping and adjusting to the loss of their loved one. All Volunteers receive comprehensive training and supervision from our Volunteer Coordinator. TLC Home Hospice Volunteers make Patient visits in Moorpark, Simi Valley, Agoura, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks and San Fernando Valley. They also make visits at The Moorpark Health Care Center, our very own 24 Hour Skilled Nursing Facility.
Volunteer Services
Services Included But Not Limited to:
- Regular Patient Visits
- Provision Of Support/Companionship To Patient And Their Family
- Correspondence Support
- Recreational Activities/Entertainment
- Other Practical Activities Of Daily Living
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Report to Volunteer Coordinator as and when required
- Contact Volunteer Coordinator when in need of assistance, clarification or further instruction
- Attend and Participate in Volunteer meetings as and when required.
- Maintain confidentiality of the Patient according to HIPAA standards and regulations
- Follow plan of care developed by TLC Home Hospice and in accordance with assigned duties
- Respect lifestyle, culture, and religious orientation of Patient and family without imposing personal standards and opinions
- Refrain from suggesting advice regarding legal, financial or medical issues to Patient and family
- Contact TLC Home Hospice office immediately in the event of an emergency or death of Patient

All Volunteers should be 14 years or older. Once you fill out the application our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you for an appointment. Your appointment includes Volunteer Orientation, DMV/Criminal Background Check, Personal Reference Check and TB Screening. All Volunteers younger than 18 years require a parent signed minor release form.
